Today I’ve created two new blogs and I will be monetizing both. One was created to provide extra lessons, worksheets and activities for my high school students and the other (this blog) was created for my personal use.
I’m actually not a newbie to the blogging world. I created my first self-hosted blog back in 2014 as a hobby and was pleasantly surprised that I could earn an income from it. At the time, I was a stay at home mom to my 1 year old daughter and had lots of time to dedicate to it. I had earned my first $200 within the first three months of launching my blog and my hobby quickly became a side hustle.
A year later, I accepted a teaching position at a high school AND found out I was pregnant again at the same time. With a full time job, two littles and a husband who has frequent work related trips away from home, I struggled with my blog. Since then, I’ve always missed writing and contributing my little tidbits to the blogosphere.
This time I can start without all the ‘newbie’ mistakes that I made back in 2014. My littles are not so little anymore and I’m ready to take on this challenge! Times are tough…so why not use my hobby as a side hustle? I’m starting head-on and will be attempting to monetize my blog from the get-go. This experiment will compare my income from my two new blogs. Can two new blogs make money right from the start? Which of these blogs will be more successful? Follow my journey as I share it all here!
Let the games begin!
