Hey guys! By now, you’ve realized that we are a frugal family. We are always looking for money-saving ideas and ways to supplement our income. In fact, this blog was created as an extra source of income (Yes, we started blogging for money and you can too!). In these modern times, with the internet and technology, it’s way too easy to earn extra money from home to not give it a try! Most of these require little to no money to start too. So whether you’re trying to get out of debt, transition to one income and become a stay-at-home-mom (or dad!), or simply have some extra money to fund your globe-trotting dream, these ideas on how to earn extra money from home may be perfect for you!

7 Ways to Earn Extra Money from Home

1. Start a Blog

This is number 1 on my list because this is the option that I chose! If you love to write, starting a blog might be the best thing for you! I got my first blogging paycheck way back in 2014 and since then, there has been so many more options for bloggers to make money. With blogging, your initial investment costs add up to LESS than $4 per month and if you do your research and work hard, you can reap rewards from as early as your first month! My first month blog income report explains details on how I made over $200 in my first month of blogging! Yes, I made back my initial investment costs and more! My plan is to make a full time monthly income from blogging by July 2019. My only regret is not starting this blog sooner.

Putting in hard work into your blog can reap tremendous benefits; there are many other bloggers like Carly from Mommy on Purpose (who makes over $10K per month) and Michelle from Making Sense of Cents (who makes over $100K per month – Nope, that is not a typo). The key however is being disciplined and working hard. So are you ready to make some serious money from blogging?! I’ve created a step by step tutorial that is super simple to follow and will have you launching your very own money making blog in no time!

2. Sell your skill

Find something that you’re good at and sell that skill. Most people these days are living busy lives and are willing to pay to have any and everything done for them (which isn’t exactly the most frugal behavior to begin with). Are you good at baking? What about high-quality craft items that can double as beautiful, unique decor pieces? Can you cut or style hair? Or do nails? Can you play a musical instrument? How do you feel about doing gigs? Or would you fancy tutoring others the art of music, and get paid to teach them to play?

With a skill, the sky’s the limit! Monetize your skill to earn extra money from home.

3. Start a home business

This point ties in with #2 from above. Starting a brick and mortar business often requires investing large sums of money. However, starting a home business doesn’t have to be super expensive… PLUS it gives you a chance to earn extra money! It can be as simple as setting up a Facebook page and reselling items such as clothing, toys or household items that you purchased wholesale. Or perhaps you can flip items and resell on sites like Craigslist and Ebay. Add delivery as an option and you’re all set!

Other at-home business options with minimal start-up costs include:

  • Running a daycare/babysitting from your home
  • Starting a plants business e.g. grow landscaping plants, flowers, herbs, kitchen garden plants etc. (bonus if you have a green thumb)
  • Party Planning business
  • Party Decorator
  • Floral Arrangements & Gift Baskets (Work with placed orders at first)
  • Edible Arrangements
  • Pet Sitting Business
  • Photography

4. Get Paid to take online Surveys

Can you believe that you can get paid hundreds to take surveys online?! Yes, you can get paid to stay in bed, in your PJs with your phone or laptop. I don’t know about you but that sounds like a dream to me… getting paid to do something I love doing every day anyway (until I have to get out of bed to ‘mom’ of course).

Some of the best survey sites to earn money from home are:

  • Swagbucks
  • MySurvey
  • Inbox Dollars
  • Vindale Research
  • Prize Rebel

5. Teach from home

There are several sites that allow you to sign up to teach classes from your home. You can choose which time works best for you and what you’d like to tutor. Many of these programs are looking for someone to teach English to individuals from other countries.

To sign up to teach from home, check out the following sites:

  • teachaway
  • englishunt
  • lingoda
  • Pearson
  • Rosetta Stone

6. Use affiliate Pins

Did you know that you can make an affiliate income without owning a blog? Being an affiliate means that you refer someone to a product and if they purchase through your link, you get a commission.

All you have to do is signup for affiliate programs, create pins (beautiful 600 x 900 px graphics using Canva), upload to Pinterest and use your affiliate link as the URL for the pin. One thing though, you must disclose that it is an affiliate link in your pin description!

Now all you have to do is start repinning your pin (avoid being spammy!), and once someone clicks your pin and makes a purchase… VOILA! You’ve made a sale!

Pssst! Did you know you can save more money by meal planning? Meal Planning saves me thousands of dollars every year! Not sure how to get started? Grab a copy of my free Meal Planning e-guide below.

7. Freelancing

Are you great at writing? If you are, and you still don’t want to start blogging (see #1 and think about it again), freelancing might be the way for you to go. Freelancing means that you get paid to write content and articles for websites. Some of these websites can pay from $30 – $300 (or more!) per post.

Some of the best freelancing websites include:

  • Upwork
  • Freelancer
  • Toptal
  • Freelance Writing Gigs

So there you go! Hope these tips were helpful and can help you earn extra money from home!
